Downtime?

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 did not hold our attention very long as it was missing key features that competition required which are a freecam and demo recordings. The game itself is quite linear for a Battlefield game and just simply did not feel right when playing. Other than that, leagues such as TWL implemented the "Live on Restart" which ultimately lead us to quitting the 8vs8 competition as none of our members could load up in time.

Fact of the matter is that we did have a successful run at Bad Company 2 while it lasted making it to the finals for the PAX qualifier, beating every team in competition at least once, and hopefully earned the respects of others. Unfortunately with the game in a state that does not have the same attention grabbing effect that Battlefield 2 and Call of Duty 4 had, many of our members did not feel the will to practice or play though we knew it was necessary. It is just hard to fully commit to something that that is not exciting.

Howeverwe are not out yet as we are now moving to 4vs4 in Bad Company 2 where we will be competing in the Newegg Wanfest tournament as well as the Season 1 league at TWL. Knowing where we stood in 4vs4 when we scrimmed it, we have our goals high. Looking forward to these sarting.

Opposing team: Dynamic

The tensions were high as team Dynamic and 16th Gaming faced off on the first match of the Team Warfare 64 team kickoff tournament.

The first round Team Dynamic gave 16th a very hard time, but through perseverance, 16th made an amazing comeback from a 40-15 ticket deficit

In round two 16th was overwhelmed by the enormous teamwork of Dynamic's medics. We simply could not keep up with the amount of revives as we were pinned into the B flag radius.

Round three showed great moments in close quarters Infantry combat. After vigorous pushes and firefights at C, 16th's infantry captured the last flag as Grenade kept the heat up on from behind. From here on out it was only a camp fest as Dynamic attempted to leave it's main, only to be slaughtered by the never ending barrage of gustavs. 16th took the round by bleed with a 40-60 ticket count.

The PAX tournament finally comes to an end. Sadly 16th was unable to achieve their highest goal of competing in Boston for six grand. However, this tournament proved as a positive experience for our young team. The members of 16th got a taste of what true competitive gaming really is. Through nonstop practicing and scrimming 16th blew past the first two matches collecting 50 frags in almost under five minutes. Additionally, 16th were able to contest and even beat teams such as HOT, Rival, and FEISTY during scrims.

The beginning of the round proved promising as we had a small lead over each team at 17 kills. Unfortunately this anticipation became short lived. The Doctors presented everyone with a unique tactic that allowed them to generate a ton of kills quickly. Thus, allowing them to win and go to Boston. Even though 16th lost in the end, we have proven ourselves to be among the best teams. This tournament also allowed us to vastly improve our infantry skills. When opportunities like this presents themselves, 16th will be there to compete and win! I see a bright future for this young team!

Congratulations to The Doctors and to everyone that represented 16th in PAX:

BC2 Competition?

Will tomorrow be brighter?
Since the release of the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 BETA, the hype for the battlefield series was nowhere shy of incredible. Old teams began to reform and many Call of Duty 4 players disappointed with Infinity Wards Joke of Modern Warfare 2 were looking into the Battlefield series. The BETA had fairly smooth launch if you factor out the lag on release. Some saw that BC2 had serious potential while others did not anticipate the release of the retail game. On March 2 our prayers were answered from DICE with the release of a great game that put BF2 to shame so we thought, or did it?

Just kidding, it is still an amazing game and it is also a sequel to Bad Company 1 which was not on the PC. DICE did indeed perform with spectacular maps with completely destructable enviornments, it almost feels like Crysis. There is a variety of vehicles and maps, some of which I have never player since I stuck only to conquest, but when I did play them, I was thoroughly impressed. There are a few flaws in the game that prevent it from being played competetively which is the only downside.

Possibly the only thing that is holding Bad Company 2 back from being the number one game to compete in is the lack of features you can change on a server. Something that would be required is a start delay at the beginning of a round so everyone does not have to reload the map which would give the team with faster computers a huge advantage. Another problem is the fact that you can't see the ticket count at the end of the round so it is hard to prove who had more tickets if you go to a third round, or just for scoring purposes. The other issues are the lack of spectator mode, free cam, and demo recordings which are essential to shoutcast and review matches. If DICE implements these, BC2 will be the best game to compete in hands down.

On the bright side, TWL is hosting a Kickoff tournament for Bad Company 2 which will be a single elimination bracket with two divisions. There will be frustrating times in organizing the matches correctly however it also starts off the game for competition. We picked division two so we get to play Check Six, Rebels of Mankind, Dynamic/Team HOT, and Massive Unit. So when we win, we're #1 ;) Also 20ID and nL want to compete so this opening tournament with limited admin capabilities is loaded with experienced and talented teams. Can't wait to OWN =)

What's New?
After many years of playing Battlefield 2, 16th finally has a website up! With the release of BC2 came disappointments as the game is not yet ready for competition due to the lack of several features. However the game has serious potential and we are praying that it is fixed so we compete in it.

Our roster consists of a mix of teams with players from the original 16th, BB, p-n*, and M5.

So who is 16th?
Haha I love hearing this. We got into BF2 competition as a team after CAL S3 5v5. All of us have previous CAL experience but we have never played as a team until after CAL died. 16th had members from Cz8 join us for TWL and they pretty much taught us how to rape as a team. Ever since then we beat teams in 5v5 consistantly and due to the lack of interest in the community for BF2, we represented Team USA for the Nations Cup at ESL
